Guide for Hose Failure Analysis
Common Causes for Failures

Common symptoms and solutions for hose assembly failures:

HOSE INSERTION DEPTH

SYMPTOM: Fitting blow-off.

CAUSE: Hose was not inserted into shell of fitting per the recommended length. All the teeth in the shell need to be in contact with the hose to properly hold the fitting onto the hose. The first tooth in the shell is essential for approximately 75% of the holding ability of the fitting to the hose.

SOLUTION: Replace hose assembly. When making a replacement assembly measure and mark the proper insertion depth on the hose end to insure proper insertion depth is achieved after the fitting is installed.
